The preparation of a digital photo involves three basic steps:

1. The first step is to mask each object. A mask defines which pixels in the image will change when a color is rendered onto the object.
2. The second step is to set up how shadows and highlights are to be applied to the objects.
3. The third and last step is to save the prepared photo so that it can be used in the COLOR Designer. The image compression can be changed visually.
